Planet Notion is looking for guys and dolls to film and edit features for its new TV channel, PNTV. Accompanying Notion to artist interviews, gigs, fashion shows, festivals and international events, you will be skilled, passionate and full of ideas about how to produce shit-hot video content. Camera-folk will be experienced and ideally have their own equipment, or at least access to equipment, while editors must be able to turn projects around quickly, and with stylistic flare. If you can both film and edit content, we would especially like to hear from you! These casual, unpaid positions would be ideal for those looking to develop their showreels, and to get the chance to travel, film major artists and top events.

SHOCK HORROR! I’ve managed to get this weeks Be@Proud preview online way before it happens. Maybe it’s because I’m going on a break tomorrow and had to get it done. Maybe it’s because I’m genuinely excited about the night and had to tell the world. And maybe it’s because I’m so bloody brilliant at running this website. Ahem, so the world doesn’t read Planet Notion and I’m absolutely shit at running a website, but one-and-a-half out of three ain’t bad… So, once again, here’s a run-down of what you can expect to see at Proud Galleries on September 27th. First-up: Screaming Tea Party. No, not a scene from Alice in Wonderland, had Lewis Carroll’s opium indulgence been topped-up by several tabs of 60s finest, but a female drummer from London and, um... two lads from Tokyo. The Mad Hatter thing isn’t a bad analogy as it goes, because Screaming Tea Party sound like putting a bag of pills in a washing machine, sticking your head deep into the epicenter and playing hungry-hippos whilst it’s on spin-dry. We’re talking sweet psych-punk rhythms and lo-fi tunes that range from mouth-wateringly subtle to full-throttle satisfying. Delicious! Next-up: Munch Munch… The Bristol quartet are like that really deformed guy from the Goonies who had a strange infatuation with young fat boys. They’re so brutally ugly to listen to, you’d rather they were locked in a padded cell and fed through a letter-box. But you can’t help but love them anyway. Munch Munch produce their DIY sound in a bedroom, have been granted numerous Radio 1 sessions and have a new single out on November 26th. They’re also lauded as one of the most exciting live acts around. Two words: Excruciatingly brilliant! Finally: The Lovely Jonjo will be making the journey to Camden’s finest. We know very little about this chap, except that he likes: “A good time, a good loud noise, a good beat you can dance to, a good booze, a good beach, a good man, a good lady friend, a good booze, a good meal, a good family, Why put up with medium?” We need say no more. This is the last Be@Proud of September, but have no fear; I’ll be back next month with a preview of Be@Proud’s October schedule. So, stay tuned, or I’ll cut your nuts and nipples off with a Gordon Ramsey fish slicer!!! Only kidding. Be@Proud September 27th Proud Galleries, Horse Hospital, Stables Market, Camden, NW18AH, 8pm – 2.30am Tickets: £5 (before9) £8 (adv) £10 (otd) www.be-at.co.uk

This one’s literally just around the corner. As in next Thursday and Friday. As in we’re based in Shoreditch and so is Concrete and Glass. So, yep, it’s literally just around the corner. Anyway, it’s called Concrete and Glass and it’s set to be bloody massive! So massive that we’re going to keep this very short and very sweet and let the line-up do the talking. Which is totally unprecedented. But, as a one man team, Planet Notion has a shed load of crap to get through today, especially if I’m going to get my long overdue break at the end of the week. Anyway, I'll tickle your taste-buds with a few additions to Concrete and Glass, including the sexiest Swede since Sven-Goran Eriksson burst onto the radar, Lykke Li. Her electro-tinged, sweet-dripping pop is equally delicious. YUM! If David Bowie was American or something, he’d probably be the figure-head of Secret Machines. But he isn’t American and he isn’t their figure-head and they’re still great and much heavier and stuff, so happy days! Brighton’s finest, Fujiya and Miyagi, Dublin’s sublimest (sic), Fight Like Apes, and London's excellentist (double sic), Ox.Eagle.Lion.Man, will also be on hand to deliver their own bite of brilliance. Concrete and Glass will take place across 18 venues around Shoreditch, including 93 Feet East, Cargo, Catch, Hoxton Bar and Grill, Electricity Showrooms and Rough Trade East. Tickets are available at £22.50 or £35 from seetickets.com . Great gig news here. Langhorne Slim & the War Eagles are heading to the UK and Ireland as part of their European tour. After a heavy weekend of excess and near-death experiences I was kind of thinking I’d take things a little easy this week, but now I’m throwing that plan out the window like a grubby wank-sock! Langhorne Slim & the War Eagles bringing their old-school Americana and folk-rock beats to the UK and Ireland calls for celebration! Excess celebration! Brooklyn-born Slim’s self-titled album, a follow-up to 2005’s ‘When The Sun’s Gone Down’ and his first for Kemado Records, is in stores now. Here are the tour dates… Thu 30th Oct: London, Scala (supporting Johnny Flynn with Amy LaVere), UK Fri 31st Oct: Nottingham, Bodega Social, UK Sat 1st Nov: Manchester , Green Windmill, UK Sun 2nd Nov: Glasgow, Nice N’ Sleazy’s, UK Mon 3rd Nov: Dublin , Sugar Club, Ireland Wed 5th Nov: London , Borderline, UK (Headline show)

Yet again I’ve been really slow on the uptake. Sorry… I should have informed you about the next Be@Proud event at the beginning of the week or something, so that you could ALL go out and treat yourself to new pants or swanky deodarant and stuff. The fact of the matter is that I was so blown away by this Saturday’s Be@Proud line-up that I fainted, fell into the road, hit my head on a discarded can of energy drink, got spat on by a hoodie and had my leg squashed by a flat-bed truck. I’ve been in A&E all week and I think I’ve got MRSA because my cheeks have turned blue and my tongue has swollen to the size of a horse’s schlong! Anyway, the show must go on… Headliners at Be@Proud will be extremely attractive all girl posse, Ipso Facto. The London four-piece are kind of like a throw-back to a by-gone age of yore or something. Thing is, I can’t really place what era they fit into. I mean, there’s the occasional twinge of 50s doo-wop, 60s psychedelica, good old fashioned rock and everything in between… This can only be a good thing; it means that they’re completely different to any other girl band out there. And they have a thing about burlesque… And they shit all over the Spice Girls. Next-up: Bearsuit. John Peel was a big fan of the boy/girl six-piece from Norwich. This means that even if you haven’t heard their Artsy-Rock grooves, you’ll probably appreciate them. I mean, when did John Peel ever pull a wrong’n? Exactly! NEVER! Bearsuit have picked up accolade after recurring accolade this year, merging synth-laden beats with any instrument they can get their dirty mitts on, to create a kind of post-punk K-Hole experience. And you should see their live shows… Man, they dress-up as robots and everything. It’s well phat! Finally, Padded Cell will be making the trip to ye ol’ stables in Camden for a DJ set. Anyone who can use House music (albeit in small snippets) and still make me shake my rump like a Bangladeshi Belly-dancer, get a thumbs-up in my book. Padded Cell’s beats are smack-den dark-and-brooding, with everything from Brazilian samba vibes to 80s cop shows mixed in! They’ll make you feel like you’re wigging out and being attacked by giant puffer-fish, whilst simultaneously giving you an uncontrollable urge to do the robot. What more could you ask for? Screw the MRSA; I’m definitely heading down to Be@Proud. And anyway, I can see this over-sized tongue coming in very handy… Be@Proud September 20th Proud Galleries, Horse Hospital, Stables Market, Camden, NW18AH, 8pm – 2.30am Tickets: £5 (before9) £8 (adv) £10 (otd) www.be-at.co.uk

I apologise for failing to update Planet Notion with a preview for Be@Proud’s next event sooner. I’ll happily take a brutal lashing of fifty strikes to the arse. Hell, I’ll take it to the balls with a splintered cane, or one with nails in it or bits of glass or anything. You see this next event is going to be massive. That said, when is Be@Proud not massive? They always sign, seal and deliver the goods. Let’s put this one into perspective: So you’re getting married? Fuck it; you can do that any time. So the missus is expecting? Fuck it; she can wait. There are no excuses not to go and even if there were any you’d probably shrug your shoulders and head down to Camden’s famous stables. For this one simply isn’t to be missed! Hailing from New Zealand, Die! Die! Die! will be playing on Saturday 13th. The Kiwi post-punk outfit sound a bit like Debbie Harry, forgetting to take her Prozac and backed by a band knee-deep in fibre glass. Which is a bit weird for a band consisting of three lads… Still, rough, raw and with just enough subtlety to steer clear of being totally punk, debut album, Promises, received rave reviews and it’s dead easy to see why. Heartbreak are the kind of duo you’d expect to see on Dave channel reruns of Top of the Pops II; dressed in space-suits and pummelling two fat fingers on the same two keys of a casio keyboard whilst adding warped vocals to an electro backbeat. Think one of those obscure 80s bands that no one remembers, zapped forward to the year ’08 with all its alt-pop-culture, and you’ll get an inkling of Heartbreak’s sound. Legends of the DJ scene and two of the most in demand guys on the circuit, Streetlife DJs will be taking to Be@Proud. With 25 years of experience behind them and having played a string of festivals this year, Stewart Rowell and Louis Gaston are sure to get rumps a-shaking. Finally, Be@Proud VJ extraordinaire, Hagpop Matossian will be stunning all with his 3D visual displays. Um, maybe we went a little too far with the ball lashing… but it’s still going to be bloody HUUUUGGGGE!!! Be@Proud September 13th Proud Galleries, Horse Hospital, Stables Market, Camden, NW18AH, 8pm – 2.30am Tickets: £5 (before9) £8 (adv) £10 (otd) www.be-at.co.uk

We’ve a habit of listing every single DJ and band and burlesque performer when we write previews. Frankly, that can be pretty tedious. Like having the same sandwich in your lunchbox all the time at school. No wonder there are so many fat kids now. It’s a lack of satisfaction with all the bull-shit food mummy puts in their pack-lunch day in day out. Same old, same old, same old story. So they hit the canteen and eat pizza slices and burgers and sausages and stuff; made for a penny sold for a pound. Anyways, here’s the thing: Shoreditch Shuffle is so darn huge that to list every last detail would cause a god damned brain explosion and bore you shitless – despite the fact it’s a dead exciting event. It’s the furthest thing from the same old story you could get; apart from green aliens with a fetish for anal invading the earth and taking men and women as their sex slaves for eternity. Oh, the thought. So anyways, we’re going to keep this short and sweet. Shoreditch Shuffle is the brain-child of ‘Who’s Jack’ magazine. It takes place in Shoreditch (big surprise) from September 13th – 14th, spread across over 17 venues. Shoreditch is considered a pretty diverse place for music and art and fashion and literature and comedy and the like; a hub of activity across the border. It’s this that Shoreditch Shuffle is aiming to incorporate. So you can expect to see a host of DJs and artists there, including Man Like Me, Mama Shamone, Ghost Frequency, Little Man Tate, the Gutterslut crew, Lost Pirates, and Royal Treatment Plant. You can expect to see comedy from the likes of Rufus Hound, fashion from the likes of Pearl Lowe, burlesque from the likes of Delores Delight, film from the Soho Shorts Rushes, and tea, cake and art from the likes of Twinkle Troughton and The Great Cake Escape Tea Room. Need we go on? Playing host to the weekend shows, gatherings and performances will be venues such as Mother, Hoxton Hotel, Bordello, Comedy Café, 333, and The Hoxton Pony. For further information, including tickets, venue listings and a complete list of artists and acts, CLICK HERE !

Levi’s® OnesToWatch® is gearing up for a 5 Night Revue in East London. The event will take place at The Macbeth, a little boozer just past Hoxton square, graced by many a top act and many a top night. All in all, a top venue. The 5 Night Revue, heralding the start of Levi’s® OnesToWatch® national Autumn tour, builds upon the success of Levi’s® OnesToWatch® 4 Night Revue in 2007, which played host to bands including Foals and The Wombats. The line-up this time round is set to be an eclectic affair, each night graced by a DJ, act or band differing from both the previous and next. I guess you could call it a 5 Night Revue encapsulating the diversity of the East End music scene, with a little nugget for every freak to feast on. Kicking off on Monday 22nd September, The Macbeth will welcome Indie-rockers Bombay Bicycle Club and Leeds’ uplifting and soulful three-piece Sky Larkin. Tuesday will tread down a different path completely, as The Macbeth opens its doors to American quintet Iglu and Hartley... Think camp pop with electro undertones, synths, basslines and freestyling lyrics and you’re someway there. Big things are indeed expected. Notion Magazine 35 contributor, Micachu, will also be on hand for some alt-electro-pop greatness! Edinburgh ’s multi-limbed and multi-instrumental Broken Records will be spell-binding the masses on Wednesday, incorporating everything from accordions and cellos to guitars and drums. The support act remains elusive… stay tuned. Thursday will welcome new kid on the London electro scene, Essr, alongside the sweet-chilled vibes of London’s Your Twenties. Think the vocal harmony of the Beach Boys with a heavy dose of synths and you’re along the right lines.... Finally, the 5 Night Revue will finish with a SONIC-BOOM on Friday with a performance from Metronomy. Support will come from London newboys Tubelord. PHEW! So there we have it. Tickets are on sale now, but you’ll have to be quick on the draw as each show is limited to just 200! Tickets: Ticketweb.co.uk

A Fistful of Fandango (FOF) returns on September 2nd, with thirty bands playing across a five night period. Mmm, exciting. FOF launched last year, throwing cash, keys, cows, wives, kids, and caution to the wind by putting on a show in an unknown venue with an untried sound system. Thankfully it proved a big hit and went down a storm. The Fandango Team has brought in an eclectic bunch this year, building on the twenty-four acts of 2007. All in all, three bands a night will play London’s 229 venue, with three bands playing the main room and three the smaller second. We’re talking everything from Indie-rock and whimsical folk, to electro-punk and punk-rock beats. Tuesday 2nd September: Allow a fistful of shit-heavy Indie to pummel your drums in the shape of Stockholm luminaries The Shout Out Louds. They’ll be joined by the The Boy Least Likely To, the awesome Peter and The Wolf, Glam Chops, Popular Workshop, and the prog-pop of You Slut!... the band, not you... Wednesday 3rd September: Pray silence please for the schizoid electro of Robots in Disguise, Black Affair, (We Are) Performance, the electro-beatery of Slagsmalsklubben, Tim Ten Yen, and the legendary Kid Carpet. Thursday 4th September: Watch in wonder as Fionn Regan brings a dose of his much-lauded folk to the fray. So too Pete Greenwood, with young upstarts Cassie and the Cassettes, Stars and Sons, Pete Molinari and Lucky Soul completing the bill. Friday 5th September: The penultimate night of FOF boasts Air Traffic as headliners. The Bournemouth quartet will be joined by The Ruling Class, Red Light Company, Capital and Edinburgh based super-band Broken Records; they play alt-rock with mandolins, accordions, cellos and everything. Splendid… Saturday 6th September: And finally… 90s Indie legends of the Scottish highlands, Camera Obscura, will be joined by the equally brilliant (and Scottish) Frightened Rabbit, The Week That Was, The Wave Pictures, The Clientele, and the folk-rock and psych-tinged pop of Lawrence Arabia. PHEW!!! So there we have it: A Fistful of Fandango. One of the events on the live music calendar. And all for a mere £12 a ticket... Or £50 for a 5-night pass. Hit HERE for more details…

Iggy and The Stooges – yes, the Iggy and The Stooges will headline the main stage, with artists including Brit-pop middleweights Supergrass, Gogol Bordello, The Hives and Plastic Little also confirmed. Noah and The Whale are the final act to join the main stage. In keeping with Get Loaded’s annual tradition of promoting beyond minor, below major, soon to be massive talent, big things are expected of the folk-rockers this year.
