If you hear the sweet sound of RnB coming from a souped-up Austin Allegro, a hoard of fat-arsed beauties leaning on its delicate frame, you’re probably in Haringey. Seriously, they friggin’ love RnB and Hip Hop in Haringey. It’s like the epicentre of pimping tunes from pimps in pimp-mobiles! Anyway, now people from the other side of London can rejoice, as Hush, the self-professed home of RnB and Hip Hop, prepares to prostitute your swaying butt to some seriously sultry tunes. Respec’ blad!
Hush will be holding a weekly residency every Friday night at the O2 Arena. Yes, the O2 Arena. This immediately proves, beyond doubt, that Hush is at the top end of RnB and Hip Hop partays. I dare you to argue that fact. No, no, no: I double dare you!
It all kicks off on September 19th and as with any launch night, Hush has brought together a whole host of fine artistes for your eyes and ears to gorge on. Om, om, om!
First-up, you’ve got club and radio DJ, Masterstepz – so expect some banging, sexy, grinding RnB riddms to be churned out en masse. Kiss 100’s MOBO Award-winning DJ, Shortee Blitz, will be delving into his (re)mixed bag of veritable Hip Hop and RnB delights, whilst Radio1’s Chris Goldfinger – who’s “well big in da game” – will be following suit with an infusion of reggae.
The fun and frolics continue with the ma-hoosive DJ Swerve and Radio 1Xtra’s Manny Norté, playing everything from RnB and Hip Hop to Old Skool anthems and dancehall tunes. Finally, West London’s da Firin Squad, MTV Base legend, Kat, Dave Diamond and Lonyo will make up the bill.
That’s more than enough magic to keep your eyes glued and your ears tuned, right? That’s if you’re not ogling the fine array of hoe and gangster wannabes, dancing around like Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey if they were the by-product of the RnB and Hip Hop scene and by default, ten times cooler…
