There’s nothing quite as tantalizing and alluring as the sweaty, throbbing masses following an all-nighter. Hence our excitement as the ‘Remix All-Nighter’ heads to the vault-like arches of London’s SeOne. The Remix is XFM’s only nationally broadcast specialist music show, which goes some way to explaining its growing appeal to dance luminaries the country over; from Lands End to John O’Groats. Hosted by Eddy Temple-Morris, master of the debauched and bringer of genre-hopping electro, the Remix guarantees a gurning throng of jumping, singing, dancing Hell-Cats and Heavenly-Pussys. The Easter Thursday installment promises to be a good’n. You want three main arenas hosted by a who’s who of talent? SeOne’s got it baby! Not only will their be top-DJs from Ninja Tune Records and The Remix, but Phil Hartnoll (co-founder of dance music pioneers Orbital) will be delivering a five-hour DJ and VJ set, showcasing tracks from his new project Long Range. Representing Ninja Tune, who claim this will be their stand-out party of ’08, Bonobo will be bringing everything in his repertoire from breakbeat, hip-hop, funk and soul. Not only are Ninja Tune offering you this DJ luminary, but they’ve added Coldcut and DJ Food & DK to the line-up as well. Not one to be outdone, Remix is pulling out all the stops; dragging electro superstar Vitalic into the fray for an exclusive live-set, along with emerging stars The Whip and Ed Banger’s main-man Busy P. My oh my; the prospect of this Easter treat far exceeds the sensual feeling and sweet, sweet flavour a chocolate egg could ever bring to the palate! Roll-on Remix, roll-on. Easter Thursday March 20 th 9.30pm – 5am SeOne Club, Weston Street, London Bridge, London, SE1 3QX Tickets: £9.50 (adv) £7.00 (NUS) www.ticketweb.co.uk www.myspace.com/theremix www.leylinepromotions.com

Notion Magazine and Planet Notion have their collective chests puffed out, a grin upon their face like Mr. Blair on a ‘happy’ trip, and a foot tap-tap-tapping away to contain their mounting excitement. Why, you may ask, are the combined forces of Notion so giddy with anticipation? Well soldiers, chest-out; back straight; and prepare yourself to STAND AND POINT in an orgasmic spasm of electro-fantasia! Yep-yep-yep, Notion Magazine and Planet Notion are proud to be launching their brand-spanking new bi-monthly club night, kicking off at renowned East-end venue Cargo on Friday 15th February. Skippety-boo-bopping to Cargo with a pinch of fidget-house, a dollop of German blip-hop, a touch of electro-goth and some Italo-disco via Hackney, Notion will be bringing you the A1 in European electro talent. As well as their very own resident DJs, Planet Head and Tony Underground; yeah, baby, yeah! First-up with beats as sick as creamed-piccalilli and basslines as phat as Jo-Brand’s waistline, will be the Count of Monte Cristal; the Voodoo Chilli himself: Hervé. One of the most in demand DJs and producers around, Hervé has remixed for dance-luminaries The Chemical Brothers, UnkleJam and New Young Pony Club - for the purists, this means he’s tippety-top of his game. If the dark and macabre is more up your street, look no further than the electro-goth of The Black Ghosts. Cracking their creative bonces smack, bang against each other, Simon Lord of Simian fame and DJ Touché’s latest venture have been giving the club-scene a reason to STAND AND POINT up and down the country. Haunting poetry? Check. Gut-retching electro-rave? Skull and bones imagery? Oh yes! Reverberating with a rich stew of blip-hop, ragga and electro rudeness, and one of the most hectic acts to emerge from the growing Berlin scene, Jahcoozi will be tickling the taste-buds with an exclusive live-set. Made-up of quick-fire in-your-face lyricist MC Sasha Perera, the mind-blowing Robot Koch’s beats and bleeps and Baba Massive’s awesome musical scores, Jahcoozi will leave you dizzy like a Benzedrine-daydream. When the moon hits the sky, like a big piece of pie, hit Cargo. For the Italo-greatness of dance luminary Serge Santiago is coming at ya. Beating his own path from London’s Hackney, right through to America and beyond, Serge has been dipping his fingers in far bigger pies than moon-pie. Remixing the likes of Kylie, Justin Timberlake and The White Stripes, and famed for his coloured vinyl re-edits of classic italo and disco tracks, Santiago is a delicately-wrapped prezzie from Notion to you. Of course, no event would be complete without Notion’s resident DJs, Planet Head and Tony Underground, bringing a whirlwind of skag-disco greatness for your delectation. Cancel the wedding, cash that cheque, put down your Camberwell Carrot and slap your face with a wet pike. Feeling better? Good. Now get yourself a-STANDing AND a-POINTing! Words: Dave Dryden STAND AND POINT – FRIDAY 15 TH FEBRUARY 2008 Cargo, 83 Rivington Street, London, EC2A 3AY “Stand , Point and make them listen…” HERVÉ THE BLACK GHOSTS SERGE SANTIAGO JAHCOOZI (live) + Planet Head & Tony Underground DOORS: 8PM – 4AM TICKETS: £10 (FREE BEFORE 9) TICKETS AVAILABLE AT WWW.TICKETWEB.CO.UK & WWW.CARGO-LONDON.COM/SHOP

My, my, my… Tempus Fugit. Time is running out my party darlings. Only two days left for this one. But what the hell; it’s Benji B making an eagerly anticipated return to London’s Gramophone; one of those rare occurrences when all plans are tossed aside in haste, making way for the granddaddy cool of 1xtra. Benji started off playing Sax as a nipper, kind of like a young John Coltrane, before hitting the decks and gaining notoriety and acclaim for his work on 1xtra and the Deviation Session - the very same Deviation Sessions that are taking place on the first Wednesday of every month all friggin’ year - ah, sweet music to my ears. Joining Benji-B on the decks will be producer, DJ and master of visual arts, Ge-Ology. The Brooklynite is renowned for crossing the barriers between different genres, effortlessly careering from one to the next. Furthermore, his résumé says it all. Tupac? Check. Mos Def? You betcha. Welsh songstress Jem? Ohhh-yes! The man has done it all! Expect Benji-B and Ge-Ology to blend some top tunes together at the Deviation Sessions. That means plenty of soul, a dollop of hip-hop, a sprinkle of dubstep, house, and all the trimmings. February 6th 2008 (First Wednesday of the month) 9pm – 2am Ge-Ology / Benji B (Deviation / 1xtra) / More TBC Gramaphone, 60 – 62 Commercial Street, London , EC2 Tickets: £5

Groove Armada are starting a brand-spanking new residency at The End. No lie, bruv, NO LIE! Tom Findlay and Andy Cato threw a number of one-off parties last year at the hallowed London club and such was success that the duo have been given a permanent home at The End. I on the other hand remain homeless. With Lovebox Presents: Bang the Box, Groove Armada are returning to their DJing roots - so expect them to spin, spin, SPIN their sweet-sounding yarn, for the yearning ears of The End faithful as the venue enters a new era. Rather than telling you what to look forward to I’ll let Mr. Tom Findlay do the talking: “We’re really looking forward to the new residency – it’s been a long time since we played regularly on the London club scene. For the first party I’m playing the main room – I love The End’s main room for its total chaos, being right in the middle of all that mania!” Who doesn’t love it when it gets manic? That’s music to our friggin’ ears! Tom will be bringing down the house, or rather, bringing the house to the masses in the lounge, whilst Andy Cato will be creating the party atmosphere we’ve come to know and love in The End’s main room. Naturally, we can expect the twosome to bring some brain-frying beats and banging-bass as a single entity as well. Joining Groove Armada at Bang the Box will be some of the hottest talent on the circuit, with resident DJs and special guests appearing for your eyes only. Digz of DIY fame, Rachel Barton (she of Radio 1 notoriety) and the Lovebox Allstars are just a few of the tantalizing treats on offer. For the February event, Def Mix legend Hector Romero will be joining the party alongside Manchester masters of genre-busting and genre-skipping, the Unabombers. AKA, meanwhile, will bring forth the legendary Nocturnal as well as The Shapeshifters, whose debauched nights are guaranteed to get the ‘ol toes tinkling. All in all, there’ll be three rooms full to the brim of happy tunes and happy people. YES BRUV! Lovebox presents ‘Bang The Box’ Saturday 9th February 2008 10pm – 7am The End and AKA 16 West Central, London , WC1A 1JJ Tickets: £12 (NUS) £10 (AKA only) £15 (Adv) £16 (otd) www.endclub.com www.ticketweb.co.uk

Sick! On the Dancefloor is returning with a Northern invasion of London’s SeOne. But have no fear; any hostility between ‘Southern Softies’ and ‘Northern Monkeys’ will be brushed aside by the heavy reverbs being generated. For Sick! Is fast becoming one of the Capital’s top nights of electro/house debauchery, where all and sundry are united through the power of the bass. Yes indeedy, North and South will collide at SeOne to beautiful effect. Leeds based supremoe’s of dance, Purrfect Electro, are heading down to Chas and Dave’s region of "Eels, Pies, Saveloys and Trotters" in an attempt to show us Southerners how dance is done. Purrfect Electro was launched almost two years ago at Club Mission in Leeds and has since blossomed into one of the hottest and filthiest nights on the dance circuit. The nation has taken note... Luminaries Micky Slim, Sebastian Leger, Martjin Ten Velden and Paul Jackson, are just a few of the faces who have brought beats to the masses at Purrfect Electro. So, expect the Northerners to bring a string of top talent to proceedings, in an attempt to show the Sick! crew how dirty house and electro are done "north utt’border". A host of Sick! DJs will be countering the invasion with their own phat beats, including new regular and a fella fast becoming a favourite at Sick! Ed Kane. Kane don’t do things by ‘alf, and as well as battling away with his Northern adversaries, he’ll be spinning his yarn in the Techrum, the home of underground, minimal tech house on the night. Joining Ed Kane will be young protégée Mark Ramsey. Anyone who’s anyone on the tech house scene will know of Ramsey’s rare ability to get social lepers off their arse; bouncing like a Spring lamb and gyrating with a stunner. Bass is a powerful tool my friends! Bass is a powerful tool! All in all there’ll be three rooms on the night, as well as the Techrum and the raucous main, there’ll be Flirty Fresco, with “big, phat funking house”. The Dirty Funkers, Funky soldiers and the irresistible Miss Divine, will be bringing you the tippety-top in pumping, funky house. SeOne… It’s just like Toys ‘R’ Us. There’s something for everyone all under one roof! Sick! On the Dancefloor present Purrfect Electro Saturday 2nd February 2008 SeOne Club, 41-43 St.Thomas Street Southwark, London, SE1 3QX Tickets: £10 (OTD)

FunkinYou continue their KOKO residency on February 2nd, with a flurry of pumping house from special guest DJs and underground scene-setters. Playing the first Saturday of every month, FunkinYou’s relationship with the Camden hub has blossomed; with house-head’s flocking to the venue in droves and busting-their-shiznit to the throbbing, funky electro beats on offer. As per-usual the FunkinYou crew is pulling out all the stops, with an exclusive set by regular DJ/Producer Thomas Gold. Having travelled here, there and up-your-stair with the FunkinYou fraternity in 2007, Gold is one of the primary reasons the club-night has become the house connoisseurs choice for filthy, funky electro basslines and pumping tunes. Joining Gold will be a host of top-notch talent from the underground scene, including resident DJ Mr. Arkoss. Not one to beat about the bush, Arkoss delivers everything from deep, soulful house through to rougher-cut, pounding electro tech. Just as long as it’s getting hardcore on the dancefloor, the man’s a happy bunny. Joining both Arkoss and Gold will be Philgood and Ram, and Mario C with their own blend of underground house and deep, dirty basslines. DJs Dennis Veli, Blake Baker, Paul Malcolm: Lenny G and Jim Lansdown, will all be spinning their yarn in the second room, with FunkinYou’s usual foray into house-scene superstardom. And while the beautiful boys and girls are getting familiar on the floor; acts including contortionists, live percussion and trapeze will be creating the ultimate carnival atmosphere through to the early hours of Sunday morn. Trust us; believe us; take our word when we say; February is gonna be a month to remember… even if house ain’t your scene. Saturday 2nd February 2008 10pm – 5.30am KOKO, Camden, London, NW1 7JH Tickets: Members: £12 (B4 12) £15 (After) Non-members: £20

Next month is going to be absolutely filthy. No, that’s not the latest Government warning, it’s news that’s reached Planet Notion of the hottest night at Leeds University’s very own Stylus; where DJ luminaries and electro extraordinaire’s will be filling your ears with raw, unadulterated Filth. Filth have teamed up with Ibiza’s Zoo Project, clubbing website 4 Clubbers, and new-kid on the electro circuit Kim Fai to bring the tangible gut-funk of the Audio Bullys to their rambunctious club night. Salivating? I haven’t had a wet patch like that down my front since that Jessica Alba hot-tub dream. We need not remind you of the Audio Bullys sound, but if you’ve been living in a New-Guinean Pig Shack for the last year, Simon Franklin and Tom Dinsdale are the brains behind the Nancy Sinatra mash-up ‘Shot You Down.’ The Audio Bullys repertoire goes far beyond a number three single however, with multi-genre mixes borrowing from and blending hip-hop, punk, soul and UK garage. No surprise then that their influences are as vast as 60s legends The Kinks to late 70s Ska outfit The Specials. Their contemporary sound, which sweeps between poetic tales of urban life in the smoke to punchy electro, has seen the boys setting-off on global tours, busting up clubs and performing with the unmistakeable Madness. Throw into the mix a penchant for hardcore partying and some brand-spanking new material and February 10th is practically signed and sealed in your 2008 diary. The Audio Bullys will of course be joined by Kim-Fai and Martin Doorly, whilst in the second room Filth will be adding a splash of darkness to proceedings. Expect techno, tech-house and minimal sounds to reverberate from some of the most banging DJs around including The Rejekts, Matt Cooper, Carroline Banx and Luke Pompey. Sunday 10th February 2008 9pm – 3am Stylus, Leeds University, Woodhouse Lane, LS2 9JT Tickets: £12 (1st 500) £15 (2nd 500) £17 http://www.leedstickets.com/ www.filthuk.com Filth are also celebrating their 1st Birthday at the Mint Club, Leeds on 2nd February with Jonathan Ulysses, Danny Freakazoid and Out of Office.

Following on from the riotous shenanigans of December 8th, Bodymusic returns to Brixton venue Plan B next month with a line-up as sweet as a sugar-coated koala bear. It seems the Bodymusic contingent have looked back on 2007, picked-up on the success of a particular night in January and recreated it in all its glory for 2008. Yep, Plan B is going back to its roots as two masters of the house scene make a welcome return. Paul Trouble Anderson and former Loft soldier-in-arms Neil Pierce will be filling the floor with tunes old and new. The lads were major pioneers of the house scene, and will be bringing their sound of the underground forth into a new millennia… well, 2008 anyway. With thirty years in the DJ business, Paul knows how to throw one hell of a night, and with Neil Pierce gaining global recognition for his work in the Fanatix, Plan B promises to be plan A for the house connoisseur. Joining the pair will be Bodymusic regulars John Oudo and Pablo Martinez. The lads have stuck to their roots like a fly on a two-year old flapjack, maintaining their old bravado, refusing to bow to the commercial gravy train and cash-in on their success. Their appeal remains because they’ve failed to distance themselves from the people, the street, the dancefloors, and most importantly the music that they love. Much respect! So expect some old school shit from maestros Anderson and Pierce, who brought their sound to the masses and built it into the multi-million pound industry we know and love (or hate) today. Saturday 12th January 2008 9pm – 5am Plan B, 418 Brixton Road, London , SW9 7AY Tickets: £10 (free before 10.30)

No sooner has the mulled wine been downed, the turkey ingested and the crackers… err cracked, then Boxing Day comes along and it starts all over again. Well this year, as an alternative you can give the stomach a daytime rest, leave the left-over sarni’s to the rest of the family and hit Cream for their Boxing Night 2007. Following on from the esteemed club night’s 15th birthday shenanigans in November, the newly crowned number one DJ Armin Van Buuren makes a welcome return to Nation. The trance DJ and producer will be taking to the decks in the main room, fresh from a sell-out tour of multi-capacity stadiums. Despite this being a far more intimate affair, with untouchable mash-up skills and epic sets, Nation is sure to reverberate to the floor-filling sound of the Dutch maestro. Joining Van Buuren will be fellow Netherlands descendant Sander Van Doorn, one of the latest of the Dutch imports to carve a name out for himself with his tech/trance combos. These sets usually include a mixed, stirred and shaken array of influences; hence why Sander was recently voted No.15 in a recent poll of top DJs in the world right now. Joining the fellow countrymen will be DJ Remy, and Cream luminary Gareth Wyn. Everyone’s a winner! If that wasn’t enough to set the ‘ol pulse racing, over in the Courtyard shenanigans will be cranked up to the max with Cream favourites the Swedish House Mafia. The house holy trinity of Steve Angello, Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso have built-up quite a reputation over the years, spinning a yarn that even the most brazen house sceptic has taken note of. Joining the Mafiosi will be regulars on the Cream circuit, Lee Ellis and Anthony Probyn. Furthermore, with over eight hours of top talent, the Annexe will be treated to the awesome D. Ramirez, voted 2007’s best producer and British remixer. The Ivor Novello nominated house/tech extraordinaire will be joined by Tocadisco, Gavyn Mytchel, Sean Hughes and Andy Mac. Rudolph may have been and gone by Boxing Day, but ‘ol Saint Nic is hitting the streets of Liverpool one year early! CREAM BOXING NIGHT @ NATION 10pm – 6am Wednesday 26th December 2007 Nation, Wolstenholme Square, Liverpool , L1 4JJ , Tickets: £26+BF (NUS) / £28+BF

So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, goodbye, I leave and heave a sigh and say goodbye. Yes indeed, Hospitality will this month pack their bags and wave farewell to a six year residency at Herbal. Alas, this is not a time for crocodile tears, no; it’s an occasion to look back and cry ‘hoorah’ for those good times that were had, whilst giving Hospitality the send-off they heartedly deserve. Whilst their massive sweat-fests at Heaven will remain, the Hospitality crew are moving on to bigger and better things – so what better way to welcome in the Christmas joy and go out with a bang than a fuck off big bass bash – nice! Hospitality regulars and the party-hard alike will be treated to one-hell of a night on December 21st, with a whole host of resident DJs from past and present proving beyond reason why the monthly drum and bass night is so widely regarded. As well as the Hospitality faithful, Critical music head honcho Kasra will be spinning some fresh drum and bass goodness, plus an ultra rare back-to-back set from Hospital’s own London Elektricity and Tomahawk. Label owner and one of the original heads from the Hospital Records nights of yonder, these two have set the scene for many on the D&B circuit, with jaunts at Glastonbury and the Big Chill proving beyond reason why they’re at the very top of their game. The boys will be seeing the night out and saying farewell to Herbal with their blistering two-hour back to back session. Sweeet! Meanwhile, somewhere upstairs, Hospital Records chief and funk, soul, badness maestro Chris Goss will be accompanied by Zac Vibert, with the brilliant Riley spinning his yarn for the final freestyle send-off. However, dry those eyes and shed that sad face, as whilst Hospitality at Herbal is going out on a high, they’ll be coming back with a bang in ’08, so keep ‘em peeled! Final Hospitality at Herbal 21st December 2007 12 – 14 Kingsland Road Shoreditch London E2 8DA
