22nd March 2008. The Past: A night both tear-jerking and euphoric; when the masses didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. Instead they danced like paraplegic chimpanzee’s after a twenty-four hour binge on pills and energy drinks, united as one on this: The last ever Together Party at Turnmills. An emotional farewell… 25th June 2008. The Future: Following Together’s epic finale at Turnmills, where luminaries, nay, gods of their field The Chemical Brothers and Fatboy Slim took to the decks, the club-night has travelled far and wide. Indeed, the good old rave spirit the Together regulate have come to know and love is living on. Having hosted one of the finest knees-up at Austria’s ‘Snowbombing’ fest, where residents including Justin Roberston and Streetlife DJs got a crowd dressed in 80s garb to ‘shake-a-groove’ (ahem), Together will now be parking-up at the King’s Cross ‘Scala’. This is exciting news; very exciting news. It’s going to be the first time the flagship Saturday night hosts of Turnmills have put on a night in Blighty since the venues closure; and boy are they returning in style. The Scala launch party has been dubbed: The Animal Rave, with attendees invited to showcase all their animalistic charm. More on that later… First to the line-up; it’s safe to say Together have never been ones to do things in half measures or, on this occasion, in demi-mesures ; for the club-night is bracing itself for a French invasion. First up, Daft Punk’s manager and Ed Bangers’ main-man, Busy P, will be hopping across the pond to play at the Scala. One of the biggest instigators of the robo-electro digi-pop that hits global airwaves from France, Busy P is responsible for the likes of Justice, SebastiAn, Uffie, Kavinsky and Mehdi. In other words, the infamous DJ’s up there with the best of them; a legend of his field. Unlike Busy P, fellow stalwart DJ Mehdi will be making his Together debut on Saturday 28th. Brought up on a rich diet of hip-hop, Mehdi’s electro beats incorporate the urban vibe; the slick-beatery (sic) of 2006 album ‘Lucky Boy’ just one of the reasons Together have been consistently begging the French luminary to play for them. Alas, now they’ve bagged their man. Having made his name alongside Together favourite Para-One, through releases on the hip-French label Institubes Records and with orgasmic-remixes for the likes of Chromeo and the Klaxons, DJ/Producer ‘Surkin’ will also take to the decks. Making up the French quartet and no stranger to Together, Yusek will be playing a blistering set; one of the nu-wave of French DJs highly expected to take clubland by storm this year… Viva la France! And so we move away from our friends across zee pond and to the other DJs joining the Together party-bus (Scala) including a live performance from Southern Fried Records’ Dusty Kid. Dubbed “one of the most exciting breakthrough artists”, Dusty Kid will be digging into an eclectic bag of 80s synths, acid-house, techno beats and minimal sounds. Dusty will be joined by much-worshipped Together residents Justin Robertson, Anil Chawla, and Streetlife DJs. Anil and Robertson will take to Scala's main room, or Dragon’s Den as it’s known, for an acid-dipped rave-up as cum-inducingly (sic) HOT as their set at Snowbombing. Streetlife DJs will be hosting their infamous Streetlife Sessions, familiar to the Turnmills faithful, in The Birdcage area of Scala. Awooga! Finally, Uniondjs will be swinging by, and London taste makers ‘dollop’ will be hosting The Viper Room, with bleeps and beats courtesy of cream of the current crop, Boy 8-Bit. Support will come from D'Lex, Me Me Me, Genki and, of course, the dollop djs. With the night being dubbed ‘The Animal Rave’, Together are encouraging attendees to don animalistic garb. Think apes, sloths, rhinos, rodents, bugs, lizards, sharks, hell – dinosaurs or Johnny Vegas if it tickles your fancy! Together are even throwing FREE face-painting and haircuts into the equation; the perfect ingredients for ‘morning after shellshock’: “I woke-up this morning with a silver Mohican, encrusted mucus around me' chops, and blue and red facepaint like a baboons wet arse-cheeks”. For those wishing to dress-up for the equation, outlets including Escapade in Camden and Madworld in Shoreditch are offering 10% discount if you quote ‘TOGETHER’ with your order; so NO excuses! On top of this, the first 200 people through the Scala threshold will receive a free animal mask. [Aggressive] GRRRRR! Oh, and look out for the Noah’s Ark procession on the dance floor, with Together attempting to pair-up beasts in two-by-twos in a biblical orgy of debauchery! Together is back in style, hosting their own tent at Get Loaded in the Park later in the year with the likes of Gossip, Soulwax, and Mylo taking to the stage, and gearing up for a residency at Pete Tong’s ‘Ibiza’ Wonderland. Furthermore, the crème of club-nights will be hitting the Scala again in October for a Halloween extravaganza: Double Awooga! Together Launch Party: The Animal Rave Saturday 28th June 10pm – 6am King’s Cross Scala, 275 Pentonville Road , London , N1 9NL Tickets: £15 (adv) £20 (otd) www.ticketweb.co.uk Dress: ANIMALS/PAT BUTCHER!

King of club-night hedonism, Manumission, kicked-off a brand new residency at Ibiza’s legendary Amnesia last Friday, with a host of spanking-new resident DJs. Exciting news, especially when you consider that Jade Jagger, daughter of the Rolling Stones' Mick, has brought her glamtastic Jezebel club-night to the VIP room. Tantalising, I’m sure you’ll agree… Manumission is now entering its 16th season on the white island, having established itself as the cream of the sex-soaked party scene. For Amnesia, Manumission will debut the ‘Coney Island Review’, a vaudevillian stage show running in four parts every Friday. Believe the hype; it’s going to be the usual foray into a scantily-clad hedonistic wonderland! Mmm … Speaking of her new residency with Manumission, Jade commented: “Hosting the VIP every Friday and headlining three exclusive parties in the main room creates a perfect backdrop for the new summer of Jezebel. This gives us the chance to invite a new clientele as well as old friends such as Kylie, Grace Jones and Estelle to experience the Jezebel House Party. I cannot think of a better club or a more exciting party to be involved with in 2008”. Manumission will also welcome back their wee sidekick, the infamous dwarf Guru, Johnny Golden. Despite being a pint-sized fellow, Golden towers above all when it comes to pleasing the masses with outlandish, often sexual, often depraved, exploits. The cream-your-pants Manumission Girls and Dynamite Boys, stunningly clad in The Divine Creations of Manuel Albarran, have returned to Manumission, along with the golden couple, Mike and Clair Manumission. “Coming to Amnesia was like a breath of fresh air,” Mike and Claire commented. “The venue is more intimate and stylish and lends itself perfectly to our film and stage shows. Opera, Ballet, Couture and a touch of scandal to a soundtrack by some of the finest DJ´s in the world including Fat Boy Slim, Digitalism, Mylo, Mark Ronson, X-press 2, Zane Lowe and 2 Many DJs - Welcoming Jade to host The Manumission VIP is like the cherry on top!” Jezebel’s resident DJs, Dan Williams and Jaguar Skills, will be joined by a tickety-top line-up of guest DJs and performers during the Friday residency, running until the 19th September. MANUMISSION: Only for the DARING, Only on FRIDAYS, Only in AMNESIA, Only in IBIZA… For further information, including ticket details and line-ups, visit the Manumission website …

Following a resounding cry of “When’re ya’ coming back?” from just about everyone on the clubbing circuit; their calls reverberating through the chest like 70,000 volts from a Defibrillator and two damp pads, the Hacienda Tour has stood-up with a jolt and announced: “We’re coming back now our kid, so turn-up the fookin’ bass!” Yep, all the ol’ favourites, including Graeme Park and Peter Hook, will be playing three locations North u’the border over the next month. Some of them will also be making the trip to Ibiza, but we’ll keep events to our blustery shores for now to save unnecessary confusion… Kicking off at King Georges’ Hall, Blackburn, on June 7th, Factory Records and Hacienda legend Peter Hook will be taking to the decks for a live DJ set. As well as one of the countries legendary bass players, first with Joy Division and later with New Order, Hook has produced work for Manchester bands including Inspiral Carpets and Stone Roses. Hook has recently been working on a new project, Freebass, a bass-playing three-piece including Smiths bassist, Andy Rourke, and Primal Scream and ex-Stone Roses icon, Mani. As a champion of the Manchester music scene, Factory Records, and The Hacienda, Hook has also written a number of acclaimed books on the subject. As well as kicking-off in Blackburn, Hook will also play Sankey’s Soap in hometown Manchester, where he’ll be joined by Acid House innovator and all-round legend of the 80s dance scene, Graeme Park. The DJ, who played at the Hacienda until its closure in 1997, will also play Birmingham’s ‘Rainbow Warehouse Party’ on Friday 13th. Described as “The Eric Cantona of House Music” (despite a low-temperament), original Hacienda DJ, Jon DaSilva, will also be playing all three dates in June. Tech, house and electro DJ/producer, Justin Robertson, innovator of the New York house scene, Todd Terry, and DJ Buckley, Elliot Eastwick, and funk and soul supremo (sic) Jason Boardman, will also be playing selective dates. Factory Records founder Tony Wilson once commented: “ When you have to choose between truth and legend... I say choose the legend.” With the likes of Blur, Oasis, Echo and The Bunnymen, The Happy Mondays, Joy Division, and New Order having graced the Pride of Manchester before its destruction, it’s good to see the Hacienda legend being kept alive. Choose it. Sat 7th, King Georges’ Hall, Blackburn (Peter Hook, Graeme Park, Jon Dasilva, Justin Robertson) Fri 13th, Rainbow Warehouse Party, Birmingham (Graeme Park, Jon Dasilva, Buckley) Friday 21st, Sankey’s Soap, Manchester (Todd Terry, Peter Hook, Graeme Park, Jon Dasilva, Elliot Eastwick, Jason Boardman) The Hacienda Tour 2008 is supported by fashion label Bench who’ve long been associated with FAC 51. Started in 1989, Bench’s original founders came to form the label because of the strength of Manchester music culture as well as the Hacienda’s sense of fashion style. Named the coolest street-wear brand by the 2007 Cool Brands panel, Bench is involved in supporting The Hacienda Tour in 2008 across its UK, European and word-wide gigs and the label has consistently been a devoted sponsor of high profile music events and continues to be steeped in the heritage of Manchester music culture.

White Mischief (WM), the one-night alternative indoor ‘festival’ (type shindig), is returning once again. If you’re unfamiliar with WM, it’s one of the most unique nights on the gigging calendar, blending live bands and DJs with vaudeville performance and an alternative fashion scene. ‘Steampunk’ consists of punters dressing in neo-Victorian garb; think H. G Wells’ exploration of technological advances and robotic invasions written at the turn of the industrial revolution, and you kind of get the gist. Keeping to its roots, WM has based this years theme on Jules Verne’s 1873 novel Around The World In 80 Days, with bands, DJs, circus acts, comedians, sword swallowers and snake charmers, all among the global acts descending on the Kings Cross Scala this coming Saturday (June 7th). Of the bands, Turkish descendants Oojami will be showcasing a fusion of break beat and traditional music from their native land. Having sound-tracked a host of Hollywood movies and played everywhere from Glastonbury to the Royal Albert Hall, Oojami’s live experience is considered a whirlwind of visual performance and unique sound; Sufi Dancers accompanying on stage. Ebony Bones will be casting her electro-pop wizardry on the Scala, the Channel 5 actress turned cult-songstress, lauded by everyone from Zane Lowe to Jarvis Cocker. Sure, Channel 5’s ‘Family Affairs’ was viewed as Crossroads’ semi-sober sibling; a ‘SWEET’ in front of it’s initials defining all that was great and good about it; but we forgive Ebony’s soap blasphemy for her stunning performances and startling beats. WM co-founders and hosts, Tough Love, have been described as “the afrobeat Scissor Sisters” by The Guardian. If anything that’s a little harsh on Tough Love. With tribal drums and percussion, interspersed with glam-rock, pop, and electronica, the English six-piece are renowned for their awesome live-shows, consisting of everything great and good about the WM nights. We’re talking Victorian-finery, backing vocals, face paint - all the ingredients necessary for an A* all-nighter! Of the other bands, up-and-coming Pennsylvanian quartet The Outside Royalty - championed for their mesmerising electro-tinged rock, Ruby Blue’s electro-rock band Hooligan Night (consisting of Alabama 3 members), and genre-bending gypsy-jazz queen, Ta Mere, will also be performing. DJs will include multi-tasking blogger and producer Todd Hart who, in keeping with the ‘Around The World’ theme, will be drawing on his love of African beats. The Broken Hearts, whose admiration of garish garments coupled with eclectic and electrifying live sets have seen them grace the pages of Vogue, The Observer, and Time Out, will also be making a Must-See trip to Scala. More alternative DJs heading to King’s Cross include Lady Kamikaze, co-host of London’s The Black Cotton and Lady Luck Club, exploring root sounds from the 1920’s to 1940’s and drawing on vintage jazz and blues. Scratchy will also be delivering a rock ‘n’ roll set; his credentials include being tour DJ for The Clash and Gogol Bordello, and sets alongside legends such as Iggy Pop, the Ramones and Blondie. If that doesn’t set the pulse racing like a 1950’s Paris porn-shack, WM regular Dickon Edwards will be stepping up to the decks, and cowboy boogie, juke-jive and swing legends, Theodora Goes Wild & Sheriff Marshall Lawman, will also be appearing. Finally, among the vaudeville entertainment will be death-defying acts, comedy troupes, cabaret jazz performers, fire-eaters, snake seduction, and a legendary character straight from the pages of an aforementioned Jules Verne novel; he had a rather posh crisp brand named after him and was synonymous with a cartoon Lion in a 1980s TV show; can you guess who it is yet? Yes, Around The World In 80 Days’ protagonist Phileas Fogg will be joining attendees for photo opportunities. With a name like Miss Behave you’ll be surprised to learn that the eccentric Berlin-based ‘Record Holder’ is one of the last remaining female sword-swallowers. Furthermore, the buxom beauty is a world-renowned entertainer, gaining her the accolade of a “true highlight of the cabaret scene” (Time Out) and setting her apart from many on the sword-swallowing circuit. One of London’s most celebrated cabaret performers and comperes, blending quick-wit with song, Dusty Limits will be at WM; as will Victorian sketch and cult BBC7 comedy troupe The Penny Dreadfuls. French aerial rope performer, Mam’zelle Fifi, will have heads in hands, whilst vintage songstress Tricity Vogue will be delivering a tongue in cheek performance and sexy Spanish senorita Seffi will be charming far more than snakes in The Hall Of Oracles. Hosted by the all-singing, all-dancing, fire-eating Ms Opelia Bitz, The Hall Of Oracles draws inspiration from Eastern opium dens, complete with Gypsy tarot readers, prophets, and a Mad Mystic Monk… As Steve Coogan, portraying Phileas Fogg in the screen adaptation of Around The World, cried: “I could lead Britain and the rest of the world into a new age of progress and discovery.” On the above evidence, Planet Notion makes him ruddy right. White Mischief Saturday 7 th June 2008 8pm – 3am Scala, 275 Pentonville Road, King´s Cross, London N1 9NL Tickets: £15 (adv) £20 (otd) £22.50 (VIP) www.ticketweb.co.uk

Okay, so here’s the deal. The next instalment of East Village’s ‘HOUSE’ night is fast approaching, and this time the Shoreditch club has roped in the cream of the worlds elite. We’re talking an international line-up – luminaries from far and wide. We’re talking a German DJ legend, a Japanese DJ legend and, um… A Welsh DJ legend, baby! Anyway, this Friday (that’s May 23rd in case you want to put it in your diary); these DJs will be descending on East Village for a night of tres beau house music. Headlining the basement will be C-Rock; not to be confused with the shaking and a-rolling Chinese music scene or the subsequent Heartbreaker’s song about Heroin addiction. No. C-rock is a German house legend hailing from Frankfurt. A resident at the world renowned Cocoon club, he’s also part of the supremely talented production outfit ‘Motor City Soul’. Joining C-Rock will be Cardiff’s main man on the house scene, Craig Bartlett. Craig’s ‘Lamerica’ club-night is the longest running in Wales and has attracted everyone from Louie Vega to Frankie Knuckles. It’s basically The Bollocks. Joining Craig will be East Village resident DJ, Stuart Patterson. Things are a little more diverse upstairs, with Japanese legend Richio Suzuki bringing his ‘Version Excursion Party’ to London town. He’ll be joined by Dom Servini, Taka, and Koichi Sakai, to remix classic tracks with a little bit of reggae, funk, disco, jazz and anything else at their disposal. BANGIN! I’m there… Are YOU!? La Bomba will be exploding inside The Scala on the 13th June. Alas, don’t panic if you happen to live within the vicinity of Pentonville Road or the surrounding area. Hard-hats won’t be necessary and there’s little danger of skin-slicing shrapnel; for La Bomba is a musical style deriving from Puerto Rica. In other words, you’re all set for a night of urban music from the ghettoes of South-America (or in this case London) with reggaeton, dancehall, reggae, hip hop, salsa, merengue, and bacatha sounds being cut and scratched into the mix. Alas, La Bomba is as sexy as an Anne Summers party at the Rio de Janeiro carnival; with the Playboy Bunny’s, Girls Aloud, the hot one from Desperate Housewives, Kate Moss, and Carole Vorderman in attendance. What; we’re all allowed guilty pleasures, right? At La Bomba the women dance with such dripping sexual prowess, that eighty-year-old men have been known to toss their Viagra away by lights out and find eternal abandonment from the flaccid old chap. No wonder La Bomba is a recurring feature in Time Out’s top 5 nights in London. The Reggaeton Room will feature some of the finest urban Latin DJ’s available, including Jose Luis, El Moreno, and the cockney master of Reggaeton - Sami Sanchez – inspired by a deep love of travel and many-a-trip to Cuba. DJ Loco will be making up the bill, the squad of four spinning and scratching a range of dancehall, reggaeton, reggae and Latin hip hop tunes. The Salsa room speaks for itself, with Julian Mr. M, the aptly named Edwin Salsa, and Chino, taking to the decks and spinning a deep range of traditional Latin tunes; albeit with a modern twist. In case you’re wondering where merengue and bachata sounds originate, we’re going to give you a lesson in the quickest, least boring, most efficient way possible. The Dominican Republic. Finally, in the more intimate surrounding of The CALiENTE Lounge, you’ll get an insight into the South-American party-scene in all its sweaty, sexy, romping, shaking, stomping, flaming glory! We’re talking Latin party sounds and Latin House courtesy of DJ Zorro, Ricardo Acevedo, and Diego Herrera. La Bomba’s been going for a year and a half now and continues to go from strength to strength; who needs anabolic-steroids when you’ve got good ‘ol fashioned Latin beats and some of the sexiest senoritas in the Big Smoke? No wonder it attracts the Latin contingent of Premiership stars and has grown into the finest night of underground Latin sound on the circuit. Ay curumba! La Bomba Friday June 13th 10.30pm – 6am Scala, 275 Pentonvilled RD, King’s Cross, London, N1 9NL Tickets: £12 (adv) £15 (otd) Dress Code: Casual but Stylish www.ticketweb.co.uk SPECIAL GUEST TO BE ANNOUNCED!

“Music remains the most strange of the materials because we don't understand what happens when music moves you”. So said English composer Michael Tippett, and in many ways he was right. The realms of music are often divided, different music moving people in different ways - for whatever reason. Like David Bowie’s labyrinth, various creatures lurk around every corner – some casting scorn on others for liking “Techno” when “Drum n Bass is where it’s at bruv” or when it’s “All about the Reggae, mon.” Alas, uniting the different realms of dance is a singular being. We are of course referring to dub and the Dublime event at Fabric on Sunday 25th May. Yes, bringing together the biggest names in dub and incorporating everything from drum n bass and jungle to techno and house, Dublime is set to unite the various subcultures of the dance scene together as one; as Dublime’s Matt V explains: “I wanted Dublime to incorporate all the music I love which has always been linked to dub in some shape or form. I feel dub is the heartbeat of all electronic music, be it jungle, house, techno or dubstep.” With this being a celebration of dub and its fusion genres, there’s really only one man who could lead the way at Dublime. An innovator, nay – the inventor of dub, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry (at the ripe old age of 72) has plied his trade for over 50 years having launched the scene in a studio in Kingston. The night will be split into three rooms incorporating different aspects of dub. It’s kind of like a west-end musical trip through history with the sitting down, high-pitched couplets and dodgy costumes replaced by dance, alcohol and deep, funky basslines. The ROOTS room will feature a whole host of legends incorporating jungle-infused dub, drum n bass, and low-end bangin’ tunes alongside the Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry Soundsystem. “ ROOTS stemmed from the headliner Lee Perry,” explains Matt V. “The older feel of dub that leans to a heavy bassbin reliance - hence the additions of Roxy supremo Don Letts, DnB pioneer Dillinja and new dubstep prodigy Rusko, who also has a rootsy feel to his Steppa-esque productions.” Room two, the TEC room, will showcase the more recent incarnations of techno and electro-tinged dub. Artists include German experimentalist Stefan Betke, who goes under the well-known acronym of ‘Pole,’ playing alongside the hyperdub of Kode 9, the dub-tech of Sleeparchive, and a host of other acts and manifestations. Room three has been dubbed (excuse the pun) POOM. Over to Matt V: “POOM is completely across the board - artists who mix up all dub styles, reggae, dub, jungle. It’s a very diverse room with more of a party vibe.” Highlights include everything from Leeds dubstep icons, Iration Steppas, through to the reggae-dub root sound of Trojan Soundsystem. With so many acts bringing so much bass, Fabric is the only place that Dublime could truly be felt. Hell, the venue has bass going through your feet; like a microscopic jet-engine zooming under your toe-nail, blasting through your auditory tube, and crashing round the thalamus of the brain! Hell, it may be called Dublime, but it’s gonna be Sublime. (check out the video below of Fabric’s bass in action) Sunday 25th May 10pm – 6am Fabric, 77a Charterhouse Street, London , EC1M 3HN Tickets: £13 or £10 (members/NUS) 0870 902 0001 www.fabriclondon.com

This Future Clubs has Planet Notion jumping around like a family of frogs with a jackpot win on a one-pound lucky dip. Taking place just over two weeks away on Saturday 31st May the legendary Paul Van Dyk will be descending on the formidable ‘Victoria Works Warehouse’ in Leeds. As the old Chinese Proverb goes: “Talk does not cook rice.” Indeed. It’s mastering ones art through hard work and determination, and with it comes success; something Paul has fast become accustomed to. Hailing from Berlin, Paul van Dyk’s trance and techno remixes have seen him topping ‘top DJ’ lists the world over, gaining him recognition as one of the finest DJs and producers worldwide. From remixing Justin Tirousersnake to Depeche Mode, and more recently The Wombats’ ‘Moving to New York,’ Paul van Dyk has sold over three million albums worldwide. Add to this extensive global touring each and every year, a string of high-profile awards - including the prestigious Best Producer and Best Global DJ, and you go some way to understanding what all the fuss is about. On top of residencies at Cream Ibiza and on the Berlin club scene, Paul van Dyk has several radio shows on the go as well. In a nut-shell, he’s a very busy man. Joining Paul in the main arena will be close pal Giuseppe Ottaviani, and house DJ Steve Porter will be making a return to Leeds. Hosting Arena 2 will be club night Elektric Playground, having garnered quite a reputation for their monthly residency at Club Mission. Galaxy FM’s Riley and Durrant will be joined by Adam Sheridan (Van Dyk is a massive fan) and upcoming producers Hauswerks. Not bad, eh? It’s basically a massive party featuring Paul van Dyk’s mates and a load of people he thinks are like, totally friggin’ ace; Oh, and did we mention that it’s taking place in one of the finest venues in Leeds. SWEET! Saturday 31st May 10pm – 5am Victoria Work Warehouse, Bowling Green Terrace, Leeds , LS11 9SP Tickets: £17.50 (adv) MOTD www.clubtickets.com www.victoriaworksleeds.com

There are certain people in the capital who have an unnerving desire to be recognized in the public eye and seek such recognition by regularly turning up to club nights attended by the glitterati. Who knows, maybe they pass themselves off as a friend of a friend of Kate Moss’ gynecologist or something equally as glam, in the vain hope that they’ll end-up in the Bizarre column or get snapped showing a little more than their panties whilst hopping from a taxi? Anyway, here at Planet Notion we feel that it’s our duty to inform the celebrity wannabe of such nights - nights where catching a glimpse of the star of stars becomes a reality. We are of course referring to a new night from JayLa Enterprises taking place at Studio Valbonne every Thursday from the 8th of May. Classy events that are likely to attract such celebrities need to supply an atmosphere that they can feel secure and happy in. This is an indisputable fact; a given. As such Studio Valbonne will (to quote) supply “a mash up of anything from Kasabian mixed in with Jay Z, to 80’s punk rock mixed with pop”. So whilst Kirsty from Essex (a friend of Gok Wan) leaps about in her micro-skirt to Timbaland’s latest smash-hit, Boy George can remain confident, while sipping his ‘Sex on the Beach’, that the Pet shop Boys will soon be playing. And while Kirsty from Essex and Boy George make formal introductions Burlesque girls will leap from Giant Martini Glasses whilst a red carpet greets the latest arrivals… “Oh,” I hear you cry, “but who will be performing on the night?” Why, celebrities of course. Yes, hosting the back room will be Pam Hogg. “Oh,” you cry once again, “but who is this… this Pam Hogg ?” Pam Hogg is Vivien Westwood’s partner with a circle of friends that includes Lisa Stansfield, Agyness Deyn, Kate Moss (plus entourage) and our man Boy George. Plus Vivian Westwood, obviously. All are expected to show-up so, if like Bill Oddy you enjoy a spot of bird-watching (plus Boy George), then Studio Valbonne is possibly the finest place to start. “Babe magnet or male tart?” is a question that often arises when discussing the predatory instincts of Calum Best – who’ll be hosting his own spot on the bill every week accompanied by Kimberly Stewart. “Tell me more, tell me more,” I hear you yell, like the long-lost offspring of Olivia Newton John in the process of orgasmus extremus . Well, Jade Jagger will be DJing in the main room with her Jezebel DJ set, as will Glenn D with his (apparently) “infamous mash-up sets”. SMASH! BANG! and DOUBLE WHOLLOP! Rest assured, all budding Katie Price’s and Peter Andre’s, if such excitement isn’t enough to tantalize your taste-buds and tickle your g-spot, there are going to be many more surprises on the night. Ah, it’s like Hollyoaks meets Dirty Sexy Money for a few drinks with Sex and the City at China Whites but with better music and a “far-out” ambience that isn’t actually anywhere near as “WAG” as China Whites. “I’ll take two tickets please, and by God that red carpet better be cleaned”. NOTE: This event is strictly guest-list and invite only. Words: Dangerous Dave Studio Valbonne Thursday 8th May 10pm – LATE! Studio Valbonne 62 Kingsley Street London , W1B 5QN Dress as you want to be remembered! For guest-list enquiries contact www.jaylaenterprises.com or lauren@jaylaenterprises.com

You can work a lifetime to reach your goal and still end up in a crummy bed-sit at 50 with a pot-belly and a packet of condoms ten years out of date. Maybe when you reach that pinnacle you’ll look back and wonder: “Why, oh why, didn’t I get my chance?” The thing is, some people deserve a chance and some people don’t. Take house and techno luminary Craig Richards, throwing out fresh material in the same place (namely Fabric) week in, week out for practically eight and a half years. Well, now Craig’s been rewarded for his do or die attitude with his very own bi-monthly club night at the venue – and it kicks off on Saturday 26th April! You could say Craig’s never been your run of the mill house and tech DJ and, if you said that, you’d be right. See, the thing about Craig is that when he takes to the decks it’s a ‘music’ meets ‘art’ philosophy. Like Pink Floyd, only a tad more “down with the kids” and 2008. Craig’s love of DJing, painting, graphic design and photography (the arts), is going to be brought to the forefront in his new ‘The Nothing Special’ club night. Not the most apt name when you consider that ‘The Nothing Special’ has the credentials of one of the biggest spectacles in sound and vision on the bi-monthly house and tech circuit. Alas, you can expect to be taken on a musical journey and not a boring one like the ‘Savings Bank Museum’ in Dumfries, but one that’s “deep” and “wonderful” and actually surges to that crucial point when you lose all inhibitions and dance like a Gibbon on 5 grams of speed. That’s a fine balance to strike, the deep and minimal and the sacred groove, but Craig’s a master of achieving it and so are the DJs he’s invited for ‘The Nothing Special’ launch. Joining Craig in the first room will be hand-picked favourites from his Detroit native including experimental, mood-based, tech-producer DeepChord. It doesn’t stop there, with DeepChord presenting a live-set alongside Steve Hitchell (Soultek) as Echospace. If you’re unaware of Echospace they’ve gained quite a rep on the underground circuit with their ‘The Coldest Season’ LP, which explored everything from industrial soundscapes to dubbed-out ambience – all recorded on vintage equipment. Texan producer Convextion will also be joining Room One with his deep, deep, dubbed-out techno and electro sounds. In summary, we’ll let Craig do the talking: “The nights will vary in feel but will always have me playing from beginning to end. The variety in the nights will represent the variety in my sets. The first night presents Deepchord and Convextion, as they represent a dub techno sound which I have supported for a long time. A sound which is particularly overwhelming on the Fabric system.” Nice.
